Code & wind-rating notes for Miami

Miami falls inside the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone under the Florida Building Code. That means every new residential and commercial garage door installation must:

• Be impact-rated for large- and small-missile testing per FBC §1626.
• Carry a Miami-Dade NOA (Notice of Acceptance) or a Florida Product Approval that references HVHZ compliance.
• Meet wind-load design pressures for the applicable ASCE 7 exposure category (typically Exposure C or D near the coast).
